HI, MY NAME IS DEREK JARESKE!
I am excited for a future of serving as a Director of Christian Education in the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.
For the past several years, I have been studying to improve my knowledge and skills, so that I can work to serve my future congregation to the best of my ability. At the same time, I have spent more than 8 years volunteering with various ministry opportunities, all through an LCMS congregation, which has greatly increased my ministry experience. Although I chose this verse as my confirmation verse, I did not truly understand what this verse meant, in context or for my own life. I truly believe that God has a plan for us, and even though I did not know what this verse would mean for my life, I have found that it means more and more to me, each year.

It’s always powerful to remember that no matter what we do in ministry, it will never compare to what God is doing through us.

This verse reminds me that anyone who strives to be a teacher within the Church undertakes a serious calling.
“‘Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.’”

I think this verse speaks for itself.
“‘For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.’”
